PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF SENIOR ATTORNEY ROBERT L. BAKER
WHEREAS, in 1977, Robert L. Baker graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Colorado. He then obtained a Juris Doctor degree from DePaul University College of Law in 1984, where he graduated in the top ten percent of his class; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Baker worked as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Allen Hartman and as a Litigation Associate for Ross & Hardies before joining the Forest Preserves of Cook County's Legal Department as a Senior Attorney in April 1994; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Baker is retiring from the Forest Preserves at the conclusion of 2020; and
WHEREAS, during his over twenty-six (26) year tenure, Senior Attorney Robert L. Baker has zealously defended the Forest Preserves and the taxpayers of Cook County in significant litigation, appearing regularly before the Finance Subcommittees on Workers' Compensation and Litigation of the Forest Preserves of Cook County Board of Commissioners; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Baker's specialty has been successfully defending the Forest Preserves in personal injury, property damage and workers' compensation cases; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Baker is known throughout the Forest Preserves for his aggressive defense of Forest Preserves' interests; and
WHEREAS, in his downtime, Mr. Baker works as an ad model and plays guitar; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Baker currently is a proud Cook County resident who enjoys residing in the City of Chicago with his wife Kathy after many years in the suburbs raising their two daughters Liza and Callie.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that President Toni Preckwinkle along with the Forest Preserves of Cook County Board of Commissioners, General Superintendent Arnold L. Randall, and on behalf of all citizens of Cook County, do hereby extend their thanks to Robert L. Baker for his dedication, contribution, leadership, and outstanding service and wish him continued success in all his future endeavors.
