PROPOSED PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT
Request: Requesting authorization for the Forest Preserves of Cook County (the “Forest Preserves”) to enter into a Partnership Agreement with Friends of the Chicago River, Chicago, Illinois.
Reason: Friends of the Chicago River seeks to contribute up to $220,000.00 to support habitat improvement and repopulation efforts for native turtles at Sag Quarries East, located in Lemont in southwest Cook County. The Forest Preserves and Friends of the Chicago River will collaborate to remove approximately 100 acres of invasive brush to reconnect isolated turtle populations and expand suitable nesting habitat.
The project will be conducted at no direct cost to the Forest Preserves.
Contract period: Date of execution - 12/31/2023
Fiscal Impact: N/A. The Forest Preserves will provide in-kind staff support for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of projects.
