Amazing Arachnids, Chicago Zoological Society, Brookfield Zoo, Brookfield
Join us for an aMAZEing time weaving your way through a new summer exhibit-Amazing Arachnids! The interactive and engaging experience has two components: The Art and Science of Arachnids, which features 100 live arachnids found around the world, and Mission Safari, an immersive experience that introduces different themes of species' survival and protection through play-and-learn interactives.
Fridays and Saturdays, 7/6 - 8/18; 4pm - 9pm
Summer Nights, Chicago Zoological Society, Brookfield Zoo, Brookfield
This summertime event is back for a fifth season! Enjoy Brookfield Zoo in a new light with cooler evening weather, enhanced dining and drinks, live music, roaming performers, kid's entertainment, and a new laser light show, all surrounded by wildlife and nature. Also join us for family-friendly programming on select Sundays throughout the summer.

Paddle 101, Beaubien Woods Flatfoot Lake, Chicago
Always wanted to try canoeing? Learn the parts of a canoe, paddling techniques, and safety tips before testing your new found skills on the water. Canoes supplied.
Friday, 7/27; 8pm
Full Moon Night Hike, Sand Ridge Nature Center, South Holland
Learn about the habits of nocturnal animals, then head outside to view them. Registration required.
Saturday, 7/28; 1:30pm
Midsummer Mushrooms, Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center, Willow Springs
Join us for a 1.75-mile hike as we look to see fungal fruiting bodies. Ages 18 and up. Registration required.
Saturday, 7/28; 10am - 12pm
Powderhorn Hike and Paddle, Powderhorn Lake, Burnham
Explore the unique surroundings of Powderhorn Lake on land and water guided by the Forest Preserve's ecology team. Ages 16 and up.
