Summary: The Forest Preserves has been awarded an Invest in Cook grant from CCDOTH that will support the development of phase II design engineering that will address gaps in the Des Plaines/Salt Creek Trail system. These gaps include: (1) a 0.85-mile segment between Parkview Road and Ogden Avenue, and (2) a 0.59-mile segment between Millbridge Road and Ogden Avenue. (See map exhibit). Addressing these gaps will improve user safety and enjoyment, enhance alternative transportation experiences, ensure that trail users can experience natural surroundings, and strengthen connections with the Village of Brookfield, Lyons, Riverside, and North Riverside.
