Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING THE BRAVE ACT OF A FOREST PRESERVES OF COOK COUNTY EMPLOYEE, CHRISTOPHER CAMMON, AND HIS COMMITMENT TO THE LIFE OF AN ENDANGERED MOTORIST WHEREAS, On Sunday, August 18, 2019 at around 3 am Christopher Cammon was waiting for a bus at the corner of 79th St and Jeffery Blvd in the South Shore neighborhood heading to work; and WHEREAS, Mr. Cammon heard tires screeching, then witnessed a motorist crash into the light pole at the same intersection where he was standing; and WHEREAS, Mr. Cammon quickly responded, in the midst of a dire emergency, as the vehicle burst into flames trapping the motorist inside; and WHEREAS, Mr. Cammon ran across the street and yelled for the help of others, as he proceeded to pull the injured driver out of the burning vehicle, and then drag the 24-year-old man across the street to safety; and WHEREAS, Mr. Cammon successfully assisted, the individual survived and was taken to a nearby hospital; and WHEREAS, Mr. Cammon who was...

PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

HONORING THE BRAVE ACT OF A FOREST PRESERVES OF COOK COUNTY EMPLOYEE, CHRISTOPHER CAMMON, AND HIS COMMITMENT TO THE LIFE OF AN ENDANGERED MOTORIST

 

WHEREAS, On Sunday, August 18, 2019 at around 3 am Christopher Cammon was waiting for a bus at the corner of 79th St and Jeffery Blvd in the South Shore neighborhood heading to work; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Cammon heard tires screeching, then witnessed a motorist crash into the light pole at the same intersection where he was standing; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Cammon quickly responded, in the midst of a dire emergency, as the vehicle burst into flames trapping the motorist inside; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Cammon ran across the street and yelled for the help of others, as he proceeded to pull the injured driver out of the burning vehicle, and then drag the 24-year-old man across the street to safety; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Cammon who was willing to risk his life to assist a stranger should be honored for stepping out of his comfort zone and going above, to save a life of another; and

 

WHEREAS, Christopher Cammon deserves commendation for his courage, compassion, and heroism; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Toni Preckwinkle, Board President, and the Forest Preserves of Cook County Board of Commissioners recognize and commend the exemplary efforts of Christopher Cammon and extend their sincerest appreciation for his gallant efforts and his immediate action on that day.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this Resolution be prepared and tendered to Christopher Cammon in recognition of his courage and his dedication to helping others in need.
