Summary: The State of Illinois receives preparedness grant funds from the United States Department of Homeland Security/Office of Domestic Preparedness ("DHS") pursuant to the Urban Area Security Initiative ("UASI"), established under 6 USC ? 604, which provides financial assistance to address the unique multi-discipline planning, organization, equipment, training, and exercise needs of high-threat, high-density areas and to assist them in building and sustaining capabilities to prevent, protect against, respond to and recover from threats or acts of terrorism. Cook County has entered into an agreement with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency ("IEMA"), the agency designated by the State of Illinois, to receive and administer funding provided to the State by DHS pursuant to the Federal Fiscal Year 2015 UASI.

Cook County is committed to utilizing a portion of the funding provided to it under the agreement between Cook County and IEMA to provide financial assistance to sustain, maintain, and develop the Preserves' Mobile Data Terminal systems. Such Mobile Data Terminals will support primary efforts to build and sustain the capabilities necessary to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism, and other threats and hazards posing the greatest risk to the Urban Area, based on capability targets and gaps identified during the Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment pro...
