Summary: Pursuant to the Board’s approval of Board Item No. 23-0354 on May 23, 2023, the Forest Preserves is currently leasing space from Cook County for temporary storage of furniture, fixtures, equipment and records during renovation of its General Headquarters (“GHQ”) in River Forest, Illinois, involving replacement of all heating, ventilation and other mechanical systems. Mechanical system work and more minor post-construction renovation at GHQ is expected to be completed by August 2024, but additional time may be needed to dispose of surplus property that is no longer needed and to move items back into GHQ after renovations are complete.
