Report Title: Forest Preserves of Cook County Annual Concessions Report FY 2023

Summary: On 3/15/2022, the Forest Preserves of Cook County Board of Commissioners approved the Forest Preserves of Cook County (the “Forest Preserves”) Concessions Ordinance (Board Item No. 22-0126) (the “Ordinance”). Under the Ordinance, the Forest Preserves is authorized to grant certain concession related permits and contracts. To assist with this process, the Forest Preserves implemented a Concessions Policy (Policy Number: 05.00.00) establishing the criteria by which the Forest Preserves will issue permits and contracts for concession opportunities to increase and improve visitor engagement by providing the public with access to complementary recreational activities, amenities and services while also generating revenue to support the mission of the Forest Preserves.
The Ordinance requires an annual report to the Forest Preserves of Cook County Board of Commissioners on concession related permits and contracts awarded by the Forest Preserves of Cook County for part or all of the prior fiscal year and any concession opportunities currently available or anticipated to be made available by the Forest Preserves of Cook County for the current year. The Concession Report describes the specific concessionaire permits and contracts that generated revenue in 2023 along with opportunities anticipated for 2024.
In 2023, the Forest Preserves received $1,824,192.00, an 11% increase over 2022.
