Summary: Under this proposed IGA, the City of Evanston’s Public Works Department would provide refuse collection services at Perkins Woods in exchange for a small annual fee to be paid by the Forest Preserves. The Forest Preserves would remain responsible for the purchase, installation, and supervision of the waste receptacles, which would be similar to those receptacles used throughout Evanston. However, eliminating Perkins Woods from the waste collection route for North Branch Landscape Maintenance staff would substantially reduce the amount of travel time and labor for two (2) to three (3) employees per month, saving the district money and reducing fuel emissions.
The cumulative contract value is $22,064.36 for the initial five-year term, and $48,909.04 over ten (10) years, if the Forest Preserves exercises the optional five-year renewal. The Chief Financial Officer has approved this item. The final IGA is subject to legal review and approval.
