PROPOSED INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT

Request: Authority for the Forest Preserves of Cook County (the "Forest Preserves") to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement ("IGA") with the Village of Western Springs, Illinois ("Western Springs").
Goods or Services: Western Springs is requesting an IGA to provide a connection to the Salt Creek Trail in Bemis Woods, extending from Ogden Avenue. While the trail connection will be 1,726 linear feet in length, only 570 feet will be on Forest Preserves property, as the rest falls within the County's Transportation and Highways right-of-way. At the standard license width of 15 feet, the proposed 570 linear feet of trail will require a license area of 8,550 square feet, or 0.1963 acres

Summary: The Forest Preserves operates and maintains the Salt Creek Trail in Western Cook County. Western Springs proposes to construct a trail connection to connect users coming from Ogden Avenue to the trail. Western Springs will be responsible for design, construction and future maintenance costs associated with the project as well as payment of $44,311.97 in tree mitigation fees. An estimated twenty-two (22) trees are proposed to be removed. The license fee, license application fee, and the YELAR fee will be waived, per the current usual practice for trail connection project requests from municipalities.
