PROPOSED RESOLUTION
K9 ROCCO
WHEREAS, the Forest Preserves of Cook County (the "Forest Preserves") Law Enforcement Department would like to honor the life of K9 Rocco. It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of K9 Rocco of the Forest Preserves of Cook County Police Department. After 10 years of loyal service, K9 Rocco age 12, passed away on November 27th, 2024, following medical complications from a brief illness; and
WHEREAS, K9 Rocco served as a trusted partner to Officer Darrin Jackson, working side by side to safeguard the citizens of Cook County. Their bond went beyond duty-it was one of mutual respect, unwavering dedication, and an unspoken understanding that only a handler and his K9 partner could share. Together, they formed an inseparable team that contributed to public safety and left a lasting impact on the community; and
WHEREAS, K9 Rocco was not just a working dog but a cherished member of the Forest Preserves of Cook County family. His courageous service and the sacrifices he made will always be remembered with gratitude and admiration; and
WHEREAS, Our deepest condolences go out to Officer Jackson, his family and all who had the honor of working with Rocco. As we mourn his passing, we also pause to honor his memory and the exceptional legacy he leaves behind. Rocco's work will continue to inspire and remind us all of the extraordinary commitment it takes to serve and protect. Rest in peace K9 Rocco. Your work here is done, but your spirit will forever remain a part of the Forest Preserves of Cook County family.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Toni Preckwinkle, President along with members of the Forest Preserves of Cook County Board of Commissioners and the Forest Preserves of Cook County do hereby honor the life of K9 Rocco; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that suitable copies of this resolution be sent to Officer Darrin Jackson and to the Forest Preserves of Cook County Law Enforcement Departme...
