Summary: The Forest Preserves has been awarded $353,022.40 in Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grant funding from the Cook County Department of Emergency Management and Regional Security to support the purchase of 68 digital, portable radios to equip its police department and ensure that its law enforcement officers can respond to the needs of the public, provide a more timely and thorough response in search and rescue situations, and communicate clearly and effectively in the case of a national threat or disaster.
