Summary: The Department of Facilities and Fleet received permission from the Vehicle Steering Committee on 6/3/2025 to decommission fifty-three (53) Forest Preserves vehicles due to age, high mileage and condition and purchase twenty-six (26) new replacement vehicles. Authorization for this purchase involves four (4) of the twenty-six (26) approved vehicles. This purchase is anticipated to be partially funded via a United States Environmental Protection Agency grant in the amount of $1,040,000.00. The remaining balance of $1,197,884.32 will be paid by the Forest Preserves via existing referendum monies. This purchase request of four (4) additional Loadmaster electric refuse trucks is based on Sourcewell Contract #032824-CRN with Battle Motors, Inc. and fulfilled by authorized dealer R.N.O.W., Inc. The trucks are part of the refuse modernization program and will be assigned to the Department of Landscape Maintenance for field operations.
