Summary:  The Forest Preserves has been awarded grant funds by the Forest Preserve Foundation to support 13 acres of ecological restoration at Cranberry Slough Preserve near the Village of Palos Park in southwestern Cook County. Cranberry Slough is a rich woodland, savanna, and sedge meadow complex and is a priority for ecological restoration. Restoration will include thinning over-dense tree stands to increase light levels and improve the health of this preserve. This work builds on prior restoration work at this preserve and the adjacent Country Lane Woods preserve.

 

Total project costs to be covered in full by the grant amount are $37,500.00. The work will be conducted at no additional cost to the Forest Preserves. The grant award will require the execution of a grant agreement.
