Summary: The Forest Preserves’ Facilities and Fleet Department is requesting to purchase Propane Autogas and Gasoline systems (i.e., propane conversion systems), training, and parts for repair. Fleet vehicles will be modified from gasoline to these propane systems to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Facilities and Fleet will reduce installation costs and install/maintain these propane systems in-house to reduce the downtime in sending these units out to a dealer for repairs. Blossman Services, Inc. is one of two vendors of propane vehicle conversion systems in the Midwest area. Blossman Services, Inc. can provide the training needed to move the conversion process in-house and holds 2024 EPA certification, whereas the second vendor does not. This is a sole source procurement.
