Summary: This grant award will allow the Forest Preserves to conduct inclusive community outreach to develop a Community Engagement Plan and to install a series of wayfinding and interpretative signs at Eggers Grove. This 240-acre site is one (1) of only a handful of forest preserves located within the City of Chicago, but despite this, and the remarkable nature and outdoor recreation opportunities it offers, the site is currently underutilized. The proposed activities will be designed to build awareness of these assets and increase use, and appreciation of, Eggers Grove. The total project costs are $300,740.00; of which the Forest Preserves will contribute $80,000.00 in direct match and $70,740.00 in in-kind staff support.
