PROPOSED PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT
Request: Authorization for the Forest Preserve District of Cook County (the “Forest Preserves”) to enter into a Partnership Agreement with Friends of the Forest Preserves.
Reason: Friends of the Forest Preserves (FOTFP), in partnership with Friends of the Chicago River, Chicago Ornithological Society and the North Branch Restoration Project and others, has received a grant from the Chi-Cal Rivers Fund in the amount of $110,398.00 to support the third phase of the Centennial Volunteers project. The Centennial Volunteers initiative focuses on building a network of volunteers dedicated to restoring habitat in the Chicago and the Calumet River basins, in particular at Beaubien Woods, Blue Star Memorial Woods, Clayton Smith Woods, Forest Glen Woods, LaBagh Woods, Kickapoo Woods, River Oaks Woods, and Whistler Woods. This project advances the goals of the Forest Preserves’ Next Century Conservation Plan to mobilize people to heal and nurture the land. The Forest Preserves proposes to contribute $40,000.00 in cash match to leverage $270,000.00 of cash and in-kind match that FOTFP, partners and volunteers are contributing to this Project with a total budget of $420,398.00.
