PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF CHIEF CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER ADNAN NAMMARI
WHEREAS, Adnan Nammari will retire from public service to the Forest Preserves of Cook County on December 29, 2023, after a 43-year career in various civil engineering posts, including 28 years of service to the Forest Preserves; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Nammari graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology with bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering and started work as a senior civil engineer for the Forest Preserves in December 1995, after serving for 15 years in private-sector engineering consultant positions; and
WHEREAS, for the past 20 years, Mr. Nammari served as Chief Construction Engineer, succeeding Paul Pearson, Harry Barrett and others, in this prestigious Forest Preserves' position; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure as Chief Construction Engineer, Mr. Nammari managed the Civil Engineering section of the Department of Planning & Development and introduced new technology-based systems and tools for performing engineering design and administration of capital funds, in addition to maintaining standards and procedures for Forest Preserves' construction contracts; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Nammari also oversaw many significant Forest Preserves' construction programs and challenging construction contracts for new or improved bridges, dams, parking lots, picnic shelters, canoe and kayak launches, and other outdoor recreation amenities; and
WHEREAS, notable outdoor recreation projects managed by Mr. Nammari included the expansion of the fitness stairs at Swallow Cliff, a new nature play area and fitness stairs at Dan Ryan Woods, new picnic and program shelter prototypes, new accessible canoe and kayak facilities, and repairs to many bridges and dams at fishing lakes throughout Cook County; and
