Summary: The Forest Preserves of Cook County is requesting to purchase five (5) Morbark chippers through a purchasing consortium. Chippers are generally used to cut tree limbs, trunks and branches into smaller pieces or chips. Purchase of the proposed chippers will enable the Forest Preserves to continue with its mission towards restoration, management, and preservation of the Forest Preserves. Besides their main use, these chippers will also play a vital role with regards to storm recovery during post-storm operations. The chippers being replaced will be inspected and evaluated for possible re-assignment to another department with the purpose to have them utilized to continue with the Forest Preserves mission.
