Summary: The Forest Preserves of Cook County would like to extend and increase its contract with Allied Waste Transportation, which provides Refuse and Recycling Disposal Sites for Region 4 by exercising the two (2) one-year extension options as provided in the original bid and initial Board Item (see Board Item No. 21-0326). This contract was increased with Board approval on 11/15/2022 (see Board Item No. 22-0483) to cover the costs for both Region 3 and Region 4. At that time, there was no executed contract for Region 3 due to a lack of bidders during the initial solicitation period in 2021. The Forest Preserves intends to end this extension in February 2026 to coincide with a new request for proposals on waste contracts. Region 4 consists of the Thorn Creek Division.
