PROPOSED PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT
Request: requesting authorization for the Forest Preserve District of Cook County (the “Preserves”) to enter into a Partnership Agreement with The Nature Conservancy (“TNC”).
Reason: Prescribed burning is a key natural resource management tool utilized across the Preserves’ 69,000 acres to restore and maintain healthy regional ecosystems and combat threats to biodiversity posed by invasive species. The Forest Preserves of Cook County and The Nature Conservancy seek to enter into a Partnership Agreement to collaborate on wildland fire management activities on District holdings. The Preserves and TNC stand to mutually benefit from the experiences and interagency training opportunities provided by this partnership.
The Nature Conservancy is a leading non-profit environmental conservation agency which has been involved in regional and global conservation efforts since 1951.
This partnership advances the goals of the Next Century Conservation Plan.
Contract period: Sixty (60) months from date of execution
