PROPOSED BID RECOMMENDATION
Request: requesting authorization for the Forest Preserve District of Cook County (the "Preserves") to enter into a contract with Martinez Frogs-OVC JV, Chicago, Illinois.
Reason: Contract 11-80-14 is for Oak Forest Heritage Preserve Trail Construction and Parking Lot Improvements. The work includes construction of a paved and gravel loop trail over 2 miles in length and construction of a paved parking lot facility for 28 cars on former gun club property. The work also includes interpretation nodes and signage, pedestrian bridge installation, boardwalk, landscape plantings, storm water piping, and other related work as specified in the plans and specifications.

Base bid amounts include line item costs for seeding and mulching a 20 acre portion of the site, as well as line item costs for soil treatment for lead on another portion of the property that is outside of the immediate area of development and use. In order to complete the project at an amount closer to the budgeted amount, the recommendation is to award the contract with these items deducted from the project. These work items would be postponed until a later date.
Estimated Fiscal Impact: $1,523,867.85
Contract Period: 220 days from notice to proceed.
