Summary: The Forest Preserves has been sub-awarded grant funds from the Morton Arboretum via the U.S. Forest Service Landscape Scale Restoration Program to conduct 35 acres of habitat restoration at King’s Grove in southeast Cook County. Restoration activities will include invasive species removal and installation of native grasses and wildflowers. The Forest Preserves will also host four (4) community engagement events focused on nature education, seed collection, and a bird blitz highlighting local biodiversity.

 

Total project costs are $207,300.00, of which the Forest Preserves will contribute $107,300.00 or approximately 51% in direct match.
