PROPOSED RESOLUTION
HONORING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF TERRY GUEN TO THE FOREST PRESERVES OF COOK COUNTY
WHEREAS, in 2013, Terry Guen was appointed by President Preckwinkle and the Board of Commissioners to the Next Century Conservation Plan Commission to develop a new vision for the Forest Preserves of Cook County ("Forest Preserves"); and
WHEREAS, as a member of the Next Century Conservation Plan Commission, Terry worked with fellow civic leaders to advise on the development of the Next Century Conservation Plan (the "Plan") an ambitious and visionary plan with goals to ensure the Forest Preserves' native habitats thrive, create opportunities for everyone to explore the preserves, demonstrate the value of protected land and provide enduring and accountable leadership; and
WHEREAS, following adoption of the Plan by the Board of Commissioners on February 18, 2014, Terry was appointed by President Preckwinkle and the Board of Commissioners to the Conservation and Policy Council of the Forest Preserves of Cook County (the "Council") where she served from 2015 to 2022, providing guidance and expertise to the Forest Preserves in the implementation of the Plan; and
WHEREAS, as Founder and Principal of Terry Guen Design Associates, Inc., Terry used her background in landscape architecture to apply her knowledge of integrating ecological outdoor environments within public design and creating nature-filled public spaces to her work with the Council; and
WHEREAS, on November 7, 2016, Terry convened a group of professionals from the American Institute of Architects and the American Society of Landscape Architects, to advise the Forest Preserves on integrating natural elements in the Forest Preserves' built spaces; and
