Summary: The Department of Facilities and Fleet received permission from the Vehicle Steering Committee on 6/3/2025 to decommission fifty-three (53) Forest Preserves vehicles due to age, high mileage, and condition and purchase new replacement vehicles. Twenty-six (26) replacement vehicles were approved by the Board of Commissioners for purchase in July of this year (Board Item Nos. 25-0257, 25-0261, and 25-0262). This purchase is for an additional eleven (11) replacement units. The vehicles will be assigned as follows: one (1) to Law Enforcement, seven (7) to Resource Management, two (2) to Permits, Rentals and Concessions and one (1) to Planning and Development. This purchase request is based on Sourcewell Contract #091521-NAF with National Auto Fleet Group.
