Summary: The Forest Preserves issued a Request for Proposals (“RFP”) seeking firms to supply and deliver sand, gravel, stone, and related granular materials to be used for the repair and upkeep of Forest Preserves trails, parking lots, and facilities. This material is also utilized in a variety of ecological restoration applications, such as to repair hydrologic impediments and prevent erosion. These contracts will be utilized by several Forest Preserves departments to consolidate and centralize districtwide procurement of granular materials.

A total of three (3) proposals were submitted in response to the publicly advertised RFP. Franco Hauling, LLC and M.T. Transit, Inc. were determined by an evaluation committee to be responsive based on their experience and expertise servicing similar projects, material cost per ton, and capacity to perform all aspects of the work. Material will be procured based on lowest overall cost by delivery region, and ability to mobilize promptly with the necessary quantities of material.
