Summary: The Forest Preserves is seeking professional engineering design services to develop concept plans and cost estimates for accessibility improvements and other improvements to two existing canoe and kayak launches (at Linne Woods on the North Branch of the Chicago River and the Little Calumet River Boat Launch) and eight (8) proposed new launches at various locations. These locations include Willow Road Dam, Blue Star Memorial Woods and Bunker Hill (on the Skokie or North Branch of the Chicago River), Potawatomi Woods, Dam No. 1 Woods - East and Maywood Grove (on the Des Plaines River), Twenty-Sixth Street-West on Salt Creek and River Oaks Golf Course on the Little Calumet River. The proposed contract would also include final engineering services for Maywood Grove in 2023 and additional engineering services to advance others in 2024 and 2025 after completing initial feasibility studies. The consultant team, led by Hey and Associates, Inc., was selected by a committee of the Department of Planning and Development staff in response to a request for proposals (RFP No. 23-80-25). Three (3) teams submitted proposals in response to the request.
