Summary: The Forest Preserves has been awarded a grant from the CCDOTH through the Invest in Cook program in the amount of up to $165,000.00 for Phase 2 design engineering services to support the Centennial Trail/Canal Bank Road Separation Project. The Project aims to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety on a portion of the trail that is currently on an industrial access road owned by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, with approximately one-third extending into DuPage County. The total estimated cost of Phase 2 engineering is $330,000.00. The Forest Preserves will commit 50% matching funds estimated at $165,000.00 plus any contingency costs up to $66,000.00. The Project aligns with Cook County’s Long Range Transportation Plan (Connecting Cook County) and with the Forest Preserves’ Trail Capital Plan and Guiding Principles. It also builds on a prior Invest in Cook Grant for Phase 1 engineering granted to the Village of Lemont to study the feasibility of the trail separation project. Final intergovernmental agreement subject to legal review and approval.nd
