Summary: The Forest Preserves of Cook County currently piggybacks off the Cook County contract with Insight Public Sector for IT hardware and services (Cook County Board Item Nos. 19-4551 and 19-5255), which has been extended through September 8, 2027. The Forest Preserves is requesting an extension and increase to its own contract with Insight Public Sector to support anticipated technology needs across the Forest Preserves. Several operational and strategic factors necessitate this extended and increased investment, including Bureau of Technology and Cook County Sheriffs Technology requirements, which mandate replacement of non-compliant hardware, new facilities coming online as part of capital expansion and development initiatives, rehabilitation and modernization of existing facilities, and increased staffing levels and capital investments made possible by the successful referendum.
Additionally, the Forest Preserves anticipates continued updating of hardware and infrastructure needs throughout the Forest Preserves holdings. This proposed increase will ensure that Forest Preserves staff are equipped with the technological resources necessary to perform their duties efficiently and securely.
