Summary: The Barrington Hills Park District and the Forest Preserves have overlapping constituencies and wish to provide valuable recreational facilities and programs to others in the most efficient and cost-effective manner as possible. The BHPD has been maintaining trails and equestrian event facilities (event jumps and horse trailer parking) in the Spring Lake Preserve for the last twenty (20) years and is seeking a new agreement to continue to maintain these trails and facilities in the Spring Lake Preserve. The proposed IGA will replace the IGA that was entered into on July 11, 2006, by the BHPD and the Forest Preserves expiring July 10, 2026. The Forest Preserves is recommending approval for another five (5) years with three (3) additional options to renew for five (5) years each in exchange for continued maintenance of certain trails and facilities in the Spring Lake Preserve, subject to updated terms and conditions, including cooperation on a planning process for future improvements. The new IGA will also retain and renew access easement provisions for the Forest Preserves’ non-exclusive use of BHPD’s driveway at the Riding Center located at 361 Bateman Road.  Final agreement subject to legal review and approval.
