Summary: The Forest Preserves issued a Request for Proposals (RFP #24-31-105) seeking firms to perform aquatic herbicide lake treatments at the Forest Preserves’ forty-two (42) recreational lakes and other waterbodies. These services supplement in-house aquatic vegetation control treatments conducted by the Forest Preserves annually to meet the aesthetic and recreational needs of the public and limit the proliferation of nuisance and/or invasive vegetation on its waterbodies.
A total of two (2) proposals were received under the RFP, both of which were found to be responsive. Proposals were evaluated based on experience and expertise with similar projects, application methodology, material and labor costs, and capacity to perform all aspects of the work. Work will be issued based on overall cost and ability to promptly respond to treatment needs.
A contract for aquatic vegetation control services was previously approved per Board Item No. 22-0303. This contract was executed and intended to be valid through 2027. However, before any work could be completed under the contract, the vendor was acquired by another company that did not wish to participate and the contract was subsequently terminated.
