Summary: On 6/24/2013, the Forest Preserves issued a Request for Qualifications for Phase I, II and III Engineering Services for the Sand Ridge Bicycle Trail. Agreements for Phase I & II Engineering were executed between Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. (“CCBEL”) and the Forest Preserves. Both Phases I & II Engineering are now complete. Phase III engineering includes construction management and inspection services for approximately 1.3 miles of bicycle trail from Sand Ridge Nature Center to Green Lake Aquatic Center and the Burnham Greenway. CBBEL was selected on a sole source basis to complete Phase III Engineering Services based on its qualifications and familiarity with the project based on completion of Phase I&II work. IDOT requires a Local Agency and Engineering Service Agreement for each phase of the project to reaffirm the District’s funding commitment for 20% of the total project cost.
The professional fees for phase III engineering services shall not exceed $70,000.00. A federal Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) grant administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation (“IDOT”) will fund 80% ($56,000.00), and the Forest Preserves is responsible for the remaining 20% ($14,000.00), of the total fees.
