Summary: The Forest Preserves is presently piggybacking off a Cook County contract for IT hardware and services (Cook County Board Item Nos. 19-4551 and 19-5255). The County’s contract was recently extended through September 8, 2025. The Forest Preserves now seeks authorization to extend its contract with the vendor through the same date. In addition, the Forest Preserves seeks to increase the contract amount to cover related costs and expenses for the additional year. The Forest Preserves also anticipates increased expenses for IT resources/hardware due to increased capital development and staffing made possible by the successful referendum.
Additionally, we anticipate undertaking five (5) capital projects, including the comprehensive reconstruction of the Forest Preserves General Headquarters, Police Command Center, Pavilion Visitor Center, Salt Creek and Thorn Creek Divisions This proposed increase aims to ensure that our expanding team has the necessary computer technology resources to effectively fulfill the mission of the Forest Preserves.
