Summary: The extension of this agreement will assist the Forest Preserves with maintaining and improving accessibility within the Forest Preserves. Since 2016, the vendor has assisted the Forest Preserves with the following: (1) a Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan; (2) updating the District’s barrier removal plan for making properties within the Forest Preserves more accessible; (3) development and implementation of staff training plans; (4) the management of the ADA Advisory committee; (5) outreach strategies and improvements in communication and marketing to the disability community; and (6) programmatic improvements. While the Forest Preserves intended to issue a Request for Proposals in 2019, the contract was extended due to ongoing projects. Due to the COVID-19 impact on day-to-day operations, the ability to close out projects has been significantly impacted and delayed. Next year, the Forest Preserves intends to issue a Request for Proposals if it determines that obtaining the same or similar services is advisable.
