Summary: Phase II Engineering Services are required for 4.8 miles of improvements along the Des Plaines River Trail between Irving Park Road and Fullerton Road, known as Segments 5 and 6. The Illinois Department of Transportation (“IDOT”), through the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (“ITEP”), awarded a major grant (Board Item No. 24-0360) that is anticipated to reimburse the Forest Preserves for approximately 90% of the total cost of these services, up to $2,594,547.00.
The Forest Preserves issued a Request for Qualifications for Phase II Engineering Services. Six (6) firms responded to a publicly advertised Request for Qualifications. Christopher B. Burke Engineering (“CBBEL”) was selected based on qualifications.
In addition to a contract directly with the engineering firm, IDOT requires that the Forest Preserves enter into a Joint Funding Agreement for State Participation and a Local Public Agency Engineering Services Agreement. A Resolution authorizing execution of those agreements has been submitted separately (Board Item No. 26-0413).
