WHEREAS, Mr. Kenneth Rogers retired from his position, in October of 1969, as the Maintenance Supervisor III (Superintendent) of the then Central Warehouse of the Forest Preserve District of Cook County (the “District”); and
WHEREAS, Mr. Kenneth Rogers career spanned 38 years beginning on January 15, 1931 under the tutelage of General Superintendent Charles Sauers; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Kenneth Rogers established a General Warehouse for ordering, storage, supply and issuance of tools and materials for operation and maintenance of the Districts Preserves and swimming pools. The General Warehouse allowed the District’s Maintenance Department to operate more efficiently and effectively; and
WHEREAS, at the time of Mr. Kenneth Rogers retirement he was responsible for supervising the Field Repair Crews, the Carpenter Shop, and for receiving, stocking, and distributing supplies; and

Harms Flatwoods is an approximately 107 acre preserve located in the Village of Skokie in northeast Cook County. The site consists of high quality remnant flatwoods and mowed Eurasian meadow. Because of its relatively flat topography and poorly draining clay soil, the site frequently retains water on the surface and is considered a northern flatwoods. Request: Requesting authorization for the Forest Preserve District of Cook County (“the Preserves”) to grant a permanent easement to the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (CDOTH) at Bemis Woods for 4.634 acres or 201,858 square feet.
Reason: On 8/24/1928 the Cook County Board directed the Superintendent of Highways to prepare plans for the improvement and relocation of Wolf Road north of Ogden Avenue. Plans were prepared, approved by the Cook County Board and by State Highways, and in 1929 construction began, however there is no record of an easement grant for the road at its relocation. CDOTH is requesting the easement grant to rectify the situation and formally recognize the easement for public road at its current location.
The easement area is currently improved with a two to five lane roadway with median. The easement will also allow for construction of a bike path connection proposed by the Village of Western Springs.
