Request: Requesting authorization for the Forest Preserves of Cook County (the “Forest Preserves”) to enter into a Partnership Agreement with Audubon Great Lakes, Chicago, Illinois.

Reason:  Audubon Great Lakes has received a $208,882.31 grant through the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation’s Chi-Cal River Program to restore 98 acres of critical wetland habitat within the Powderhorn complex in southeast Cook County through invasive species removal, water level management, and native plant seeding. The project will engage Audubon Great Lakes’ Wild Indigo Nature Exploration program to conduct a variety of community engagement and public access planning events focused on providing conservation programming, education, and stewardship events that build lasting relationships between urban communities of color and their local natural areas.

Total project costs are $325,943.31, of which the Forest Preserves will contribute $43,000.00 or approximately 13% in direct match.
