Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE OF KENNETH ROGERS WHEREAS, Mr. Kenneth Rogers retired from his position, in October of 1969, as the Maintenance Supervisor III (Superintendent) of the then Central Warehouse of the Forest Preserve District of Cook County (the “District”); and WHEREAS, Mr. Kenneth Rogers career spanned 38 years beginning on January 15, 1931 under the tutelage of General Superintendent Charles Sauers; and WHEREAS, Mr. Kenneth Rogers established a General Warehouse for ordering, storage, supply and issuance of tools and materials for operation and maintenance of the Districts Preserves and swimming pools. The General Warehouse allowed the District’s Maintenance Department to operate more efficiently and effectively; and WHEREAS, at the time of Mr. Kenneth Rogers retirement he was responsible for supervising the Field Repair Crews, the Carpenter Shop, and for receiving, stocking, and distributing supplies; and WHEREAS, Mr. Kenneth Rogers displayed unquestionable loyalty and integrity throughout his 38 years with the District. Title: PROPOSED MISCELLANEOUS ITEM OF BUSINESS Department: Permits, Concessions and Volunteer Services Summary: The Forest Preserves has been awarded an AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps Crew (NCCC) that will conduct an Environmental Stewardship and Conservation project in the forest preserves from 4/30/2015 - 6/11/2015, providing more than 1900 hours of volunteer time - a value of more than $43,000.00. AmeriCorps NCCC is a part of AmeriCorps, a network of national and community service programs that engage 75,000 Americans each year in meaningful service work that benefits a broad array of communities. The NCCC crew will focus on activities that improve the ecological health of the forest preserves and support programs that inspire people to form a lasting connection with nature. Forest Preserve staff will provide training and education opportunities to the crew and the Forest Preserve Foundation has made a financial contribution that supports the hosting of the crew members. BE IT ORDAINED, by the Forest Preserve District of Cook County Board of Commissioners, that Title 7 - Fees, Chapter 1 - Fee Schedule of the Forest Preserve District of Cook County Code of Ordinances is hereby amended as Follows: 7-1-1: FEE SCHEDULE *** AERIAL ADVENTURE COURSE AND ZIPLINE FEES Tree Top Adventure Course: $57.00 (Adult Ages 16+) and $37.00 (Child Ages 10-15) Tree Top Junior Course: $27.00 (All Ages) Stand Alone Zipline: $12.00 (All Ages) *Nonprofit organizations with proper documentation may qualify for a reduced rate of 30% on designated charges. *A reduction of 30% applies toward the last two weeks of April and for the first two weeks of November.
