Reason: IDOT has requested two (2) small permanent easement areas and two (2) small temporary easement areas on the south side of Rand Road between the Des Plaines River and the Des Plaines River Trail in Belleau Woods for relocation of a sidewalk and trail crossing by a few feet as part of a larger bridge and road infrastructure project. The project is proposed to improve aging bridge and road infrastructure, as well as improve pedestrian safety along Rand Road. Structures proposed to be built on Forest Preserves land. IDOT proposes to relocate the sidewalk along the south side of Rand Road, placing it behind the guardrails, which will be moved immediately adjacent to the curb, to keep a barrier between vehicles and pedestrians.
