Request: At the 11/17/2020 meeting of the Forest Preserves of Cook County Board of Commissioners, Board Item No. 20-0419 was introduced. It related to amending a License to the Village of Oak Lawn and other Municipal Customers of the Oak Lawn Regional Water System to locate, operate and maintain a water main in the Tinley Creek Preserves. Board Item No. 20-0419 was not approved until 3/18/2021. In the interim period between when the item was introduced and when it was approved several trees were removed under the direction of the Forest Preserves. Ecological restoration work within the license area resulted in removal of several trees which previously were included in this license applicant’s tree mitigation survey. Under the Forest Preserves’ Tree Mitigation Plan, the license applicant is not responsible for tree mitigation fees for these trees that were removed by the Forest Preserves necessitating a reduction of the licensee’s tree mitigation fee.
