Summary: The Department of Facilities and Fleet is requesting the purchase of three (3) Altec Aerial Lift Trucks from Global Rental Co., Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Altec Industries, Inc., which offers Altec manufactured overstock vehicles for sale. One (1) truck will be assigned to the Facilities and Fleet department for electrical operations.
The remaining two (2) trucks will be assigned to the Department of Resource Management, that will utilize the aerial lift trucks for forestry operations, such as routine tree maintenance and pruning, as well as emergency storm damage response necessitating the removal of potentially hazardous trees. The addition of these vehicles to the Forest Preserves’ fleet will allow for an equitable distribution of aerial lift trucks with appropriate height capabilities across the county, improving efficiency and reducing response times.
